Integration Introduces RCRDSHP NFTs to Dapper’s 2+ Million Active Users

Dapper, the world's first publicly available smart wallet, today announced its integration with RCRDSHP, a digital collectibles platform for music. Beginning today, Dapper will seamlessly introduce and onboard its more than 2 million active users to RCRDSHP’s music NFTs. This integration represents a massive step towards introducing more people to the benefits of blockchain technology. RCRDSHP brings the global music community into the broader ecosystem, making it more robust and diverse.

After the digital market took off in the early 2000’s, streaming services saved the music industry. However, artists still have not generated more revenue or accrued more value. Despite roughly 80% of music revenue coming from streaming services, 90% of all streaming revenue goes to the top 1% of artists. Currently, with artists generating an average of less than one cent per stream, only 13,400 artists earn upwards of $50,000 or more per year on Spotify. With NFTs offering an additional unique way for musicians to sell their work, RCRDSHP streamlines access between artists and fans to generate sustainable revenue for artists and affordable music collectibles to fans. The integration with Dapper aims to further prioritize the accessibility of music NFTs, by delivering access to the music NFTs on the RCRDSHP platform to Dapper’s 2+ million active users.

“RCRDSHP could not be more excited to announce this integration with Dapper,” said RCRDSHP Founder & CEO, Obie Fernandez. “Dapper is second to none in terms of user-friendliness and functionality, and we anticipate new and existing RCRDSHP users will immediately benefit from this advancement. Music is valuable, but it is not being valued. Far too often, we’re seeing artists working multiple jobs to make ends meet, while fans miss even hearing the work of their favorite artists because there’s so much music released every day. We cannot wait to give millions of music fans a taste of a better, more valuable and compelling future.”

Powered by Flow, Dapper is widely recognized among the easiest and most secure ways to buy and store digital assets. In collaboration with Dapper, RCRDSHP will continue to incentivize fans to support their favorite artists through exclusive content and experiences tied to their engagement.

"Dapper's collaboration with RCRDSHP will accelerate how artists are able to engage audiences with their music," said Mik Naayem, CBO and Co-Founder of Dapper Labs. "This integration will allow people to easily onboard to RCRDSHP and seamlessly purchase exclusive NFT-backed music collectibles, enabling more fans to collect music from their favorite artists and artists to benefit from the value they create."

To celebrate the integration, RCRDSHP will offer a limited-quantity digital collectible pack, Dapper Starter Pack, that contains a full-range of electronic music styles and is chock full of exclusive tracks not available anywhere else. The first 20,000 members to make a qualifying purchase will receive an additional $10 bonus redeemable on the platform, and will receive a free “RCRDSHP VIP Club” NFT that grants exclusive access to upcoming monthly challenges and rewards.

RCRDSHP’s labels and artists can now unite their RCRDSHP NFT projects in one place and promote them directly to their fans and to the music NFT community at large, thanks to Storefronts. Storefronts will unlock discovery and give artists and labels new ways to present all their RCRDSHP projects in a single, easy-to-find spot, much the way Bandcamp does for legacy music formats.

With Storefronts, a Disco Fries fan, for example, can do a simple text search on RCRDSHP and find the Fries’ storefront. They can see everything Disco Fries has on RCRDSHP’s Secondary Market, any new Drops or Campaigns that are running, and all Fan leaderboards. They can also access audio snippets of music dropped on the platform. Fans can buy NFTs, share, research, or jump into a fun challenge right from there. Creators can promote Storefronts directly, giving them more opportunities to onboard music fans to their projects in an environment they control.

Following successful trials over the last few weeks with partners including Disco Fries, Magic Music and Codex, RCRDSHP will be opening up Storefronts to the entire roster of nearly 200 signed partners across the second half of 2022. Storefronts allow artists and labels direct access to the RCRDSHP platform with a curated music NFT and digital collectible store they control. Through direct NFT minting, control of pricing, and new promotional tools, Storefronts enable partners to design and run their own challenges and reward programs. They give creators new ways to reward fandom for their communities.

Artists, labels, festivals, and other content partners can manage their Storefronts via the RCRDSHP Creator Suite. This portal has already inspired a striking amount of NFT innovation, as creators set up direct-to-fan NFT sales hubs, run their own drops, and try new interactive approaches, such as minting 1-of-1 NFTs that let fans contribute to curation decisions and share in the revenue.

The intuitive simplicity guiding Storefronts’ tools and design reflects RCRDSHP’s dedication to making blockchain and NFTs accessible and relevant to music fans of all kinds. For fans, Storefronts offer new ways to engage with the artists they love, supporting them via a model that offers creators more of the revenue generated. It allows them to get involved with web3 and music NFTs with confidence by engaging with their favorite artists’ projects.

RCRDSHP wants web3 tech to benefit artists and to excite music fans, even about to buy their first NFT. “Storefronts is the latest example of our core value, to make music valuable and give more power to artists and fans,” says Obie Fernandez, CEO and co-founder. “We are hoping our latest tools and innovations spur industry-wide impact and drive adoption of web3. New features like Storefronts are part of our bigger mission to reward fans and build a sustainable ecosystem for artists.”

RCRDSHP will also begin to support partner storefronts across the brand's own marketing platforms and will launch a series of webinars and content marketing efforts including knowledge bases, FAQs, and peer-to-peer support to assist partners with fan onboarding and maximizing new opportunities.

Music NFT Marketplace Drives Fan Engagement, Sustainable Revenue for Artists in Gamified Manner

RCRDSHP, a digital collectibles platform for music, today revealed novel NFT staking mechanics that supercharge engagement between musicians and their fans. Through the unique staking feature, RCRDSHP incentivizes fans and music NFT enthusiasts to support their favorite artists in a gamified architecture. The popular NFT platform blends its frictionless technology with an elite roster of nearly 300 popular EDM artists to give fans exclusive content and experiences linked to their engagement.

The pairing of music and NFTs is relatively new, but the phenomenon has been incredibly lucrative for artists – with nearly $27 million in music NFT sales in March 2021 alone. Although NFTs eliminate barriers between creators and collectors, the NFT space has largely degenerated into a pseudo aristocracy. Music NFT sales, in particular, have achieved record-breaking amounts, but at the expense of the everyday fan. A popular music artist, for example, made headlines when his NFT of a single song sold for $490,000. Despite the assertion that the music NFT landscape would bring artists and their fans closer together, the massive costs have widened the gap between the parties. To facilitate greater access to these digital assets, RCRDSHP delivers a constant supply of affordable collectibles so that fans of any financial status can participate in the collection of music NFT.

“The most successful music NFTs tend to be unaffordable and frankly speaking, incomprehensible, to the majority of music fans,” said RCRDSHP Founder & CEO Obie Fernandez. “RCRDSHP is equipping working artists with blockchain-backed tools that they can use to achieve a living wage based on the quality of their music and fan engagement online, without having to tour extensively or resort to side hustles to survive. Our stakeholder rewards system lets players earn yield on behalf of their favorite acts. Other aspects of RCRDSHP let players dabble in A&R and work as virtual street teams, but always aligning incentives in favor of quality over quantity.”

While music NFT sales topped $26 million in March of 2021, that number dwindled to $1.4 million by May, indicating the erratic nature of the NFT market. This volatility, coupled with exorbitant price points, are primary deterrents to onboarding new artists and encouraging participation. To ensure a stable, sustainable income for their affiliated artists, RCRDSHP not only offers affordable NFT-backed music collectibles, but is now also implementing unique staking mechanics that incentivize fans to purchase and collect the work of their favorite artists. By staking their assets, fans generate daily SOUND token rewards for those artists, letting them increase their RCRDSHP earnings.

By way of leaderboards, artists are able to verify the identity of their most actively engaged fans, and reward them for their support in a variety of ways, including airdrops, tickets, and unique fan experiences. RCRDSHP anticipates this game architecture will incentivize creators to prioritize quality over quantity in their work, while encouraging fans to financially support their favorite artists in a more personalized capacity.

"I'm excited about my partnership with RCRDSHP to launch my fully branded digital collectible,” said award-winning recording artist VASSY. “It's an exciting time for artists, like myself, through the NFT space we have found freedom once again to share our creativity directly with the fans with no limitations and restrictions. I consider my journey in music to be the fans journey as well. My fans and their support is everything to me. That’s why I’m excited about my new NFT drop with RCRDSHP because It gives the fans a chance to own a rare piece of that journey. These NFT collectibles will include music and memorabilia from throughout my music career. I hope that connecting with the fans in this way inspires them to pursue their own dreams.”

“As I explored the endless possibilities Web3 offered and how to position my music as a digital collectible one company with the mention of "DJ culture" checked all the boxes that I needed,” added Grammy-nominated producer and DJ, Todd Jerry. “I'm so happy my initial journey into the NFT universe was guided by the team at RCRDSHP.”

To guarantee asset scarcity and maintain the value of the NFTs, RCRDSHP delivers a variety of utility functions to the fans holding the NFTs, including burning, massing, and staking, all features that reduce the available supply of collectible designs. Burning NFTs drives scarcity to a collection, and secures revenue for the holder. Massing allows holders to merge similar assets to create more rare NFTs, and, ultimately, stake them to generate more significant yield for their artist. The RCRDSHP game model looks to benefit artists and collectors on the platform from a viable game loop and token economy that aligns artist and player interests in novel ways.

“Releasing utility driven collectibles on RCRDSHP has entirely changed our release strategy,” said music production duo, Disco Fries. “Instead of thinking of just the final product of a song, we’re now able to let fans dive into our process and own a piece of that by attaching stems to collectibles, behind the scenes videos, and tons of other content that might have only lived on social media prior to this. When you own a piece of music and the many complementary assets that go with it, you innately value it more and that’s been the most rewarding part for us. Passive listeners on traditional DSP’s & radio are important but there is nothing like a fan who cares about the craft and RCRDSHP has allowed us to explore that deeper while giving those fans ownership in all of it via the Flow blockchain. We’ve got so much planned in this space it’s unreal.”

Flashy one-off NFT auctions with soaring price tags may have captured the public imagination. But a different dynamic is unfolding simultaneously in the music web3 community, one that points to the often-repeated goal of reestablishing the value of music and empowering artists to build more sustainable careers.

This dynamic is clear in RCRDSHP’s latest payout figures, the first shared publicly by the music collectibles platform. RCRDSHP has paid out more than $515,000 to creators from primary sales in the six months since its launch in August 2021. In addition to revenue from primary collectible sales, music creators have earned nearly $90,000 on the platform’s lively secondary market, for a payout total of more than $600,000.

This figure encompasses drops from major names from the dance music world, but also from emerging and mid-career artists diving into web3 collectibles and initiatives for the first time. RCRDSHP artists include Todd Terry, The Scumfrog, Fat Rat, Solarstone, Stoneface & Terminal, and DJ Rap. The overwhelming majority of the 382,000 collectibles created by RCRDSHP sold at accessible price points, making it a highly democratic marketplace.

“To put this number into perspective, an artist would need about 125 million streams at the average payout rate on a streaming music service to reach half a million dollars in revenue,” explains RCRDSHP CEO Obie Fernandez. “It’s still very early days for RCRDSHP, and we have a lot of new features and experiences we’re rolling out. We anticipate that this figure will grow exponentially in the coming years, proving that web3 can provide new, substantial value to artists and fans.”

Introducing RCRDSHP Studio: A Makerspace for Music Experiences in web3

First artist-fan collaboration and NFT drop led by Disco Fries and Lena Leon

Far from the big tech hype and commercial bluster surrounding NFTs and web3, thousands of projects and collectives are quietly shaping new music communities via decentralized tech. These grassroots, often fan-driven efforts blend experiences, collaboration, collective creation and investment with ever-evolving creativity.

RCRDSHP wants more of these experiments to flourish. To make this happen, the web3 music platform has launched RCRDSHP Studio, a home base that provides the tools for music lovers and artists to experiment together with all that web3 offers.

RCRDSHP Studio gives music fans a base and the tools to play around with new web3 experiences, from collectively creating something to running a remix contest to supporting a cause that matters. These experiences take place primarily on Discord and Twitch, NFTs, and the legacy music business to build a bridge to music’s web3 future. It’s part of RCRDSHP’s ongoing mission to find new ways to assert music’s value and create sustainable artist livelihoods.

To launch Studio, RCRDSHP teamed up with Disco Fries, the New York-based dance music powerhouse, and their fans. Together, 250 fans, the producer duo, and one of their favorite vocalists, Lena Leon, created a new track during a two-hour live session, voting on what elements sounded best. After mastering, the track and related media will be dropped as an NFT, with all participating fans getting credit on the NFT. Each participant, as well as the artists, will get NFTs they can treasure or sell, a unique collectible that honors a unique co-creation experience. The closing party for this first RCRDSHP Studio-related drop will stream on Twitch and YouTube on February 17

Studio is the next logical step for RCRDSHP, a home for music that sees NFTs as the means, not the ends, to unlocking music’s value and meaning. “NFTs just don’t make sense to many fans. One reason is because they don’t really do much so far and don’t offer fans much value,” explains RCRDSHP Co-Founder and CEO Obie Fernandez. “But making something together and then having a collectible that lets you listen to the track and show the world you were a part of something — that’s valuable to fans. When done right, NFTs can link us to real-life experiences and connect online communities in new, very tangible ways that are creative and exciting.” To do things right, RCRDSHP mints NFTs on the energy-efficient Flow blockchain, making them equivalent to a credit card transaction in terms of carbon emissions.

The experience proved valuable to the artists as well, changing up the often lonely work of in-studio production and writing by bringing a newfound collective energy to music making. “It was honestly the most unique experience I’ve ever had in the studio. The concept of getting real-time feedback from fans is something I had never thought of before this opportunity came together with RCRDSHP,” says Danny Boselovic of Disco Fries. “Some of their choices surprised me but ultimately I think the song really was elevated by their participation.”

“This has proven to me how important it is to share your process along the way, and there’s nothing better than sharing the thing you love the most: creating music with the people who love listening,” reflects singer Lena Leon. “I’m grateful that RCRDSHP gave us the opportunity to do this!”

“I can’t believe it came together as seamlessly as it did. The RCRDSHP community was more than ready for it and had a ton of great ideas,” notes Disco Fries’ Nick Ditri. “Being the first to do a concept like this in web3 was something super special for us to say the least, and it really showed the power of where the future of music creation is headed.”

About Disco Fries

American duo Disco Fries have become a staple in modern dance music by walking the sonic tightrope between mainstream and club-stream. From the dorm rooms at Berklee College of Music to the stage at EDC Las Vegas, Nick Ditri and Danny Boselovic have not only blurred genres with their signature blown-out basslines and classically driven melodies but have remained best friends throughout the journey. From the moment Nick and Danny looked at a plate of “Disco Fries” and realized they had just discovered their brand, their music has been championed by some of the biggest names in dance: from artists like Kaskade, Diplo, Steve Aoki, and Hardwell to popular media outlets such as Billboard, MTV, Rolling Stone and Dancing Astronaut.

With over a million monthly listeners across streaming services, the Fries are always looking to push themselves even further. Their latest venture FinishMyTrack.com capitalizes on what the Disco Fries are most known for, finishing records. Helping both established and up and comers take their songs from 70% to retail ready, the Disco Fries launched the world's first "finishing house", offering services from additional production to track assessment. In addition, they have teamed up with SonyATV for a joint publishing venture and invested in e-sports organizations such as FaZe Clan and X-Set and as a result have been featured on Yahoo News and Business Insider.

"We're always looking to explore new sounds and ways to expand our music to new touchpoints. We want to keep making music that we enjoy sharing with people that enjoy hearing it. The party never ends for us.”

Stats:
- “Forever Love” w/ Bingo Players and Viiq charted in the Billboard Hot 100, Top 45. Top 3 at Mediabase Dance Radio.
- Releases on Spinnin, Armada, Musical Freedom, Enhanced, Liftoff, and Polyor/Republic
- Fun Fact: Nick and Danny are both avid foodies and have dined at hundreds of restaurants across the globe over their touring career
